Yellow signs in the wind

Unlike the candidate in Ward 21 who has had 15 years to amass a horde of sign locations, the John Sewell Campaign must go door to door and ask residents if they would like a sign. Until recently our sign erection has been modest, but last weekend several signs crews showed their stuff. Streets such as Tyrell, Arlington and Atlas now sport enough yellow signs to equal anything that other candidates have.

There’s a constant debate about the relevance of election lawn signs. As our campaign knows many of the other candidates’ sign locations do not indicate votes for those candidates. But many think that an overwhelming number of one candidate’s signs may lead some voters to think that’s no other serious candidate. Our campaign is now in the process of balancing out the numbers. We’ll never get as many signs as needed to reflect the strong support shown at the doors - some poeple just don't want signs -but we do agree the more yellow there is, the better.

The decision to go with biodegradable cardboard rather than the plastic signs others are using – can you image what the world will think 1000 years from now when they discover in some garbage dump a stash of Mihevc signs? - does have its cost. With all the wind and rain, some signs are already giving up the ghost and require replacing. It is one of the costs of being environmentally friendly.
